R4: Compost

Worm Swap

Vermicomposting is a composting method that uses worms to break down organic waste. Using worms allows for composting to be done in doors and year round. The R4 Worm Swap provides the opportunity to reduce household kitchen waste for a reasonable price, and to recover this initial expense through the worm buy-back program. This project is made possible thanks to the support of RECYC- QUÉBEC.

Buy and Sell your worms

When done properly, worm composting does not create odours; waste is eaten and digested by the worms before it begins to rot and mould. Vermicomposting can be done year round and indoors...there is no need for a yard!

As you "feed" your worms they begin to grow and breed. When your worms have multiplied you can return them to R4. Individuals that return 250g of worms will receive $10.

To place an order fill out the Worm Swap Order Form at the bottom of this page.

For more information on composting at home check out the R4 Compost Workshops and our R4 Guide to Composting at Home. See the calendar on the right for dates.
