Waste management education materials often use the 3 R's. These three steps, Reduce Reuse and Recycle, are undeniably part of the process needed to ensure that the footprint we leave behind us is one the Earth can absorb. Before we even start the cycle of consumption we need to "Rethink", that is, we need to stop and consider the impact of every action we will have on the environment and the world around us.
To "Rethink" our actions before we act is an essential step in changing our behaviour and our impact on the planet. If we think about our actions, and the impact they have, before acting we reduce the need for waste management and minimization efforts by potentially avoiding the process of even generating waste.
Getting to know the R4 website and R4 services and integrating certain actions in your life is crucial to the project's success. In sum, it's about thinking outside the box and considering all environmental, social and economical impacts of actions and decisions. The rethink in R4 name allows for Concordia to constantly evolve towards greater sustainability.
