As youth and global citizens, Concordia University undergraduate students are striving to ensure that our common future will be a prosperous one. We seek to better the ecological and social system by allocating resources to sustainable development at Concordia; with the aspiration of our actions in Montreal resounding globally.
The Sustainability Action Fund is funded by a 25-cent per-credit student fee levy, and totals approximately $150,000 per year. These monies go to support sustainable infrastructure, student-driven projects, and inspire a culture of sustainability at Concordia.
• Advance sustainability initiatives on campus with the Special Projects funding
• Empower campus members to engage in sustainable initiatives on campus and in their daily lives
• Build a culture of sustainability on campus
The Sustainability Action Fund was founded through the 1% Campaign at the Less Talk, More Action Youth Summit held in March 2007. At this event Dr. David Suzuki and former Vice-President of the United States, Mr. Al Gore galvanized the crowd of over 2000 Concordia students to vote 'yes' on a referendum question that sought to transform Concordia into one of the most sustainable campuses in Canada. Through March 27-29th students voted and the Sustainability Action Fund was born.
